Person: What do you do?

Me: I'm a Human Performance Specialist

Person: *Blank Stare*

Me: Have you seen Billions? I'm Wendy Rhoades...without all the unethical stuff.

Person: OHHHHHH

Fun Fact: It was a client that first made this analogy connection for me.

So let's dive in a bit more...if you haven't seen Billions...or even if you have and find yourself still mystified by this analogy/application of Performance Psychology...

Here's, What do you do?, the Billions Edition.

Dr. Wendy Rhoades, is a fictional Performance Coach in the TV series "Billions". She's also a Psychiatrist (I'm Performance Psychology, Clinical Mental Health and Yoga Therapy) who works closely with Bobby "Axe" Axelrod, a billionaire hedge fund manager, who's the main character of the show.

Throughout the series, Wendy helps Bobby address various psychological and performance-related issues. Wendy's role as Bobby's Performance Coach is multifaceted, addressing a wide range of psychological, emotional, and professional issues. Her work with Bobby is central to the storyline and explores the complexities of the human psyche (AkA: Human Performance) in the context of high-stakes finance.

Here are some of the issues Wendy works on with Bobby:

Performance Optimization: Wendy helps Bobby optimize his performance by providing psychological support and guidance. She assists him in managing stress, enhancing focus, and maintaining a competitive edge in the high-pressure world of finance.

Emotional Regulation: Wendy helps Bobby manage his emotions, particularly anger and impulsivity. She assists him in channeling his emotions constructively and making rational decisions rather than succumbing to impulsive actions that could harm his business or personal relationships.

Conflict Resolution: Bobby often faces conflicts with business rivals, regulatory authorities, and even within his own company. Wendy works with him to develop effective strategies for resolving conflicts, negotiating deals, and maintaining relationships while still achieving his objectives.

Ethical Dilemmas: Wendy helps Bobby navigate ethical dilemmas and moral choices that arise in his business dealings. She encourages him to consider the ethical implications of his actions and guides him in making decisions that align with his values.

Leadership Development: Wendy assists Bobby in developing his leadership skills. She helps him understand his leadership style, communicate effectively with his team, and inspire and motivate his employees to perform at their best.

Personal Relationships: Wendy also provides support and guidance to Bobby in his personal relationships, including his marriage and friendships. She helps him navigate the challenges and conflicts that arise in his personal life, contributing to his overall well-being and resilience.

Throughout the series, Wendy's role as Bobby's performance coach is multifaceted, addressing a wide range of psychological, emotional, and professional issues. Her work with Bobby is central to the storyline and explores the complexities of the human psyche in the context of high-stakes finance.

So there it is....the answer in somewhat of a nutshell (Billions Style)...to the question...

What do you do Dr.V?

and

What can you work on with Dr.V

Disclaimer: Remember that Dr. Rhoades is a fictional character. Much of the show is dramatized and therefore do not adhere to the same ethical code that Dr.V or mental health/coaching professionals adhere to.
